In December last year, months of meetings, conversations and planning finally came together with the formation of the ‘Andalucian Bio-construction Association’ in Málaga province. The Association has been formed to address a number of issues from establishing standards for professional certification and peer review to providing information to the general public and within the industry. The Association’s main focus will be on sustainable architecture and construction, including developing projects that take ‘Geobiology’ (see Chispa April/May 2004) into consideration. Once projects are constructed, eco-friendly climate control, landscaping, permaculture and efficient energy and water use will also be developed as integral aspects of the bio-construction ethic. The presidency is being filled by Austrian architect Martin Kieninger of Ronda and will be supported by Pedro Cores, a Geobiologist from Málaga, as vice-president. Active membership of the association is open to all individuals connected with the industry and meetings are open to anyone who is interested professionally or personally.
