Free bikes for Jerez

140.000€ has been provided to launch a pioneering initiative to encourage people to use alternative means of transport. The Andaluz Agency for Energy has provided the funding to get the project off the ground, whereby a fleet of 100 bicycles will be available free of charge to the general public. The aim of the project is to reduce pollution in the city and the amount of CO² by 131.000Kg in a year and the main source of this pollution is the car. Another four cities in various provinces of Andalucía could benefit from the same scheme based on a criterion, among others, of having a population greater than 180.000.
