The end of false ‘BIO’ labelling

Campaigners won a victory in their fight to stop companies confusing consumers by labelling non-organic products as ‘Bio’. Campaigners have long argued that this term is reserved for organic products only and has now been upheld in law by a ministerial change in Real Decreto de 1993 (1852/1993) which now prohibits the misuse of the term and imposes sanctions against those who continue to do so.
