Ecologists and farmers complain about UE approval of 3 potentially dangerous GMOs

The European commission will soon authorise three more GMOs despite the EU fact that the Agriculture Ministry Council was unable to reach a qualified majority to allow their commercial distribution.

Although Spain voted for the approval of these dangerous organisms, the votes against and abstentions of other EU members prevented a majority vote. Friends of the Earth, COAG and Greenpeace say that the Commission and Ministry of Agriculture are using the rise in price of cereal crops to justify the commercialisation of products which have not been proven to be safe.
