Healing Animals Holistically

The Animal Wellness Clinic in Calahonda provides a new kind of health care for animals of all shapes and sizes. While many people are now looking for alternatives in their own wellbeing they often don’t realise these alternatives are also available for their animals. Complementary medicine is just as effective, if not more so, when applied to animals. The clinic offers general vetinary medicine, chiropractic, acupuncture and post-operative rehabilitation. Other natural therapies that are used in the clinic include flower remedies, crano-sacral and animal massage. Emmanuelle Vandendriessche, the clinic’s principal vet believes that animals deserve the right to good health and wellbeing. “Normal medicine treats an illness by giving medication to get rid of the symptoms which is good in acute or life threatening situations but can be harmful in the long term,” explained Emmanuelle. “Holistic treatments work to build the innate strength, recovery, or immune system of the body to be able to heal itself. A combination of conservative medicine and complementary therapies allow us to offer the most comprehensive health care for pets.” Emmanuelle has studied extensively with international animal healers such as Amanda Sutton, as well as being a vetinary surgeon and has been based in southern Spain for the past four years. She hopes her approach will encourage people to think about care for their pets in a more holistic way.
