“Effective management of natural resources and the maintenance of biodiversity are essential when considering the present and future conservation of ecosystems, particularly in relation to potential adaptations to climate change.” So begins the latest report from Greenpeace ‘Destrucción a Toda Costa’ now in its 8th edition highlighting the black spots around Spain’s coastline directly threatened by overdevelopment and unsustainable growth. Greenpeace argue that it is time to stop the out of control speculation and corruption that will further degrade the coastal environment. Proper conservation plans need to be implemented and planning laws reviewed. “Nobody acknowledges that if you want to conserve the coast you cannot cover it in concrete.”
