Environmental Education in Coín

FNCA (Foundation for a New Water Culture) has published a study about the environmental and cultural values of Rio Grande in the hope of raising awareness about the importance of preserving the river’s natural wealth. A handbook that explains Rio Grande’s unique characteristics has been given out to Coín’s 6th graders although there are plans to distribute the publication in all the municipalities that border the river. Antonio Herrera, Manager of Mediodes, an environmental consultancy that supervised the project says: "The general quality of the river banks and water at its source is very good and only worsens where the rates and intensity of population increase…"
