New bike lanes in Malaga

Recognising the need to improve the city’s sustainable transport system, Malaga council start introducing more bike lanes connecting the city north to south and east to west with a 5.3km project costing 750.000€ the start of a 40km network for the city. According to the SUR newspaper, this first stage will begin building the infrastructure to integrate bicycle use into the city’s transport policy and includes a total investment of 5 million euros and the building of more than 30 bike parks. The objective is to create "a secure and coherent network that will respect pedestrian areas in the hope citizens will be able to get from A to B in the shortest most practical way", says Juan Romero Casero, Transport advisor.
