This issue seems to be full of good news stories about people in our community who are doing well and building successful businesses in difficult times. Hard work and providing a quality product or service eventually pay off and none deserve to be doing well more than Sherainae, based in the heart of Marbella. Having built up a very successful spa centre in hotel Sultan over the past 10 years, Sherainae’s interests have taken her to Nepal, Tibet and India where she now runs personalised guided tours throughout the year to visit these amazing spiritual centres. And now, to add another string to her bow, she has opened a shop selling unique hand made clothes and jewellery brought back from her many travels. Located next to Arcadia cafe down the road from the Black Box Theatre between Ricardo Soriano and the beach, ‘Sherainae tienda’ is an ethnic shopper’s dream – silks and semi precious stones, crystals and flowing dresses.
Sherainae is keen to emphasise that all the pieces she brings back are made by artesans working in small scale production to a high quality standard. “The shop really came about from increasing demand for the pieces I was bringing back,” Sherainae explained. “In fact we’ve only been open a few weeks and almost half the stock has sold and we are getting requests from people to stock our designs in other shops already.” One of the best reactions the shop has had, Sherainae told me, was that people are delighted to find unique pieces in contrast to the mass produced clothes that populate high streets all over the world.
