Do you want to know where your clothes come from? This is now possible thanks to the new social project that has been launched by the foundation EMOTIVA called “SOCIAL – Abetterworld”. This not for profit organisation aims to transform the world of fashion, showing that it is possible to guarantee the origin of clothing that meets strict requirements of human and labour rights as well as respecting the environment.
The project has been launched with a limited edition, ethically produced T-shirt, which can be purchased either on their website www.fundacionemotiva.org or at various outlets along the Costa del Sol.
The shirts have been made by companies in Tanzania, Turkey and Bangladesh that meet the international certificate of compliance for human and labour rights and use high quality, local, organic cotton.
The silk screen was made by the ‘Special Employment Centre’ for Down’s Syndrome in Toledo, who showed great professionalism in their work and provide an example to all with their ‘joie de vivre’.
Profits from the sale of the collection have been allocated to projects developing cooperatives in Bolivia through the Emotiva foundation.
This initiative, however, aims to go beyond just showing the traceability of the clothes we wear, guaranteeing human and labour rights throughout the supply chain, it also aims to promote a better world through positive messages and raise public awareness of the need for responsible consumption.
Once the T shirts have been made and the first catalogue produced (don’t expect any famous models, only friends and family who support the project), the energy to build a better world will be focused on finding new points of sale and expanding the customer base. Anyone with a business who would like to offer these ethical T-shirts can contact the directors of Emotiva.
