Gabriella Mensch took over Centro Santa Fe last March with the view of turning it into a healing space for women to meet, practice spiritual disciplines and run workshops. Apart from the yoga classes that are on offer five times a week, there is also meditation, dancing, painting mantras and one-off workshops organised by the members. “I’d joined different spiritual circles in Estepona before,” explains Gabriella. “But by the end of 2011 there were no more happening in the area and I realised something was missing. I had a vision of running my own place and soon after I realised that place was Santa Fe.” With some help the place was redecorated and prepared for the activities they had planned. As well as hatha yoga and yoga flow they also offer antigravity yoga which is becoming increasingly popular – using a hammock like apparatus, AntiGravity Yoga combines traditional yoga principles with elements from aerial acrobatics, dance, Pilates and calisthenics.
It provides a workout that allows you to stretch and strengthen without overstressing your joints or compressing your vertebrae. The centre is a truly multinational meeting place for women of all nationalities with activities taking place in English, Spanish and German. “I have just started to set up an Earthkeeper group in German,” says Gabriella. “I introduce the Munay Ki rites and some other shamanic tools in order to heal Mother Earth (ourself)
