Arboretum fun day

On September 20 the fun will be found in Arboretum park. From 10am to 2pm the park will be alive with activities including music, games for children, information and a sneak preview of the eco dome being planned for construction in February. Everyone is invited for the morning, to come and get to know this special place near the heart of Marbella, a sustainable project to bring environmental education to the city.

During the morning there will be several activities for children and adults. At 11am the first public compost bathroom will be officially opened. Throughout the park there will be several stalls selling seeds and green plants, artisanal cheeses, organic produce and crafts. For children there are games and to add to the festive atmosphere there will be live music. Many gardeners will also be on hand to proudly display their vegetable patches within the project of organic urban gardens of Arboretum Marbella.

The theme of the event ‘Fun Day’ is not only to celebrate the arrival of autumn but also raise funds for the construction of the Dome Trust. A 140m² green building made with local materials. This classroom will be used not only for the thousands of children from schools in Marbella who visit the park each year but also for courses and events organized Arboretum for various local groups. Arboretum and other associations and local businesses will also be able to use the Eco dome for events that require a special and inspiring atmosphere.

To raise the money needed for the construction of the Dome the campaign “Step by Step x a dream ‘ has been launched. The director of Arboretum will take part in the event ‘Marbella 4 days walking’ dressed as a tree and will be looking to raise money by walking up to 30Kms a day over the 4 days of the event. But only if people sponsor the steps he will take give you the steps that have been donated, every step is worth 0,20 €. The Fun Day event is free but they ask the public to donate so that the tree can walk more kilometres.
