Alozaina, less than an hours’ drive from Malaga, is emerging as a thriving community of excellent artists and artisans. In a truly international venture they have grouped together to present the first Ruta de Arte y Artesanía in their white pueblo within the Sierra de las Nieves.
It is the initiative of three artists; Anne Weltens (Netherlands/German speaker) has a keen eye for detail and paints beautiful symbolic mandalas, Alloa Patricia (U.K.) is exhibiting original art prints and ‘energy’ paintings, whilst artist Isabel de las Nieves (Spanish, French and English speaker), describes how her creative juices flow while she’s experiencing an emotional healing process and her art works are the result of spiritual insights. She has been a vital contact person with the Ayuntamiento and the Spanish artists.
The Ruta takes place over 3/4/5 July with studios and creative spaces open to the public from 2 to 10pm. The map of the route can be picked up at the new Aula de Cultura right next to the old arch and Tourist Office in Calle del Calvario where visitors can see examples of all the artist’s work.
Press, TV and local officials and supporters are invited to the public opening at 8pm on Thursday 2nd July in the Aula de Cultura to meet the artists and enjoy refreshments. The Ruta opens the following day.
