When Bellaria was born three years ago no one expected it to become the lifestyle choice it is now. With a passion and drive for baking, well-being, hard work and constant delivery Bellaria has striven to meet every expectation thrown its way. In a world riddled with intolerances, food anxieties, stress and pressure, Bellaria quickly came to terms with the need to satisfy a hungry and demanding market. Their approach to … Continue reading
Osteopathy is very beneficial for babies. During birth the baby passes through the pelvis and the head suffers compression. After birth a natural phase of decompression takes place through which the baby´s skull bones go back to their normal position.
Sometimes this decompression phase is not completed properly, especially if the birth was either unusually fast or long or if forceps or a vacuum was used. In these cases although the head may look symmetrical the compression may still be present. In this instance the … Continue reading

This issue our health detectives take a deep breath, relax and pause for a minute. Breathing normally happens automaticaly, but it does pay off to pay attention to how we are actually breathing.
Back in 1931 Otto Warburg won the Nobel Price for the discovery of how important oxygen is for our health: ”The prime cause of cancer is the replacement of the respiration of oxygen in normal body cells by a fermentation of sugar.” In other words let your cells breathe like the babbling brook … Continue reading
As someone who works on a daily basis with holistic therapies, Birgit Danneberg, from retreat centre Molino Málaga, is always on the look out for new techniques that work on all levels of mind, body and spirit. She wanted to tell us about her latest discovery, a range of therapeutic grade essential oils from a company called Doterra. “Up to 50 – 70 % more effective than the dried herb, the essential oils are called also the essence or the soul of the plant,” explains … Continue reading
Did you know that according to environmental experts the average house contains up to 62 toxic chemicals? Many of these are found in our cleaning products and we’re exposed to them routinely. Some of them pose immediate risks such as burns but others are linked to long term health issues such as asthma, cancer, reproductive disorders, hormone disruption and neurotoxicity. Although it may be difficult to avoid exposure to toxic chemicals altogether, it is possible to reduce it significantly by taking more care about what … Continue reading
Many readers will be familiar with our recent articles by Vanda Laktos, owner of health food shop Biocasa in Fuengirola, and passionate about healthy vegetarian food. A common complaint amongst her clients is that organic food and healthy fresh vegetarian food is more expensive and so she has set out to show that it is possible to have a varied, rich diet for no more than a ‘standard’one. Her daily blog at biocasafuengirola.blogspot.com shows her typical meals for two people for the month of March. … Continue reading

Like many things in the mainstream we often assume there are no other alternatives, whereas over the years La Chispa has shown time and again that not only are there other options, but often they are healthier and more ecological. An excellent example is the question of tampons and sanitary pads, that are used in their millions by people who may not be aware that they are environmentally unfriendly and potentially unhealthy. Fortunately, for all eco women looking for a solution there is the Mooncup, … Continue reading
