These markets are a fantastic resource - I use the one in Coín - not only is it the cheapest place to buy organic staples like rice, beans, fruit, veg, honey etc etc but it's also a great opportunity to see people! Cristobal the veg man will even put you on his mailing list and you can order your fruit and veg beforehand and just pick up the box on the day... Come along and support these organic markets so the Ayuntamientos see how popular and useful they are...

Hi, I think organic markets are great, and I do believe that little by little people will buy more and more at the organic markets. I hope they put the marbella one on again soon!
I have not been to the one in Coin but I heard there is a bakery which sells organic bread in Coin, do you know if he stands on that market too?
  • We're definitely seeing a growing interest, especially in these farmer's markets. A new one has starte din seville recently and has been very popular. There will be a new one starting in Marbella soon we hope - I'm waiting on details.

Como se trata de mercados; tengo unos 25 kilos de remolacha roja para enzalada que me sobran en La Loma, si alguien me las quiere cambiar por algún otro producto ecológico o bien por 25 coines en el 600011195 estoy. Saludos JJ

Great to see that the Coin organic market is still doing well, let's hope it continues going from strength to strength. TC

Herbs, there are two bakeries in Coín that produce organic bread - and one does sell the bread at the market, not sure if he has a stand or if someone else sells it for him..

Here is the info on the bakeries - you have to order in advance, either by calling or going in the day before - one is called 'Zapelia' and it's at the top of town, by the entrance to Almeda, this is the bread available at the market.

The other I'm not sure exactly where it is, one of the Transition Town group has given me this info - 'En un callejón de la calle Feria está “La Curruca” que es la más antigua y famosa.'

There is also a mill in town that will sell organic flour to individuals - minimum 5kg, but it does spelt and wholegrain flour.

    Hope that helps.. Kate

  • the transition group of Coin also offers fresh organic bread at their regular friday markets at Muebles del Mundo

does anyone know where to apply for a permission for a stall in one of the organic markets?
  • you can try asking at the monthly market in Coin - talk to the people from Guadalhorce Ecologico. Better than trying to contact them through their web site. Phil
