Healing: Tissue Memory. I have discovered while 'Healing' that the mind and body, through the hands, work together and connect to the primary problem. They are connected to the patients 'pulse' inside the energy body of need. The tissue and cells actually possess their own memory capabilities and are not necessarily reliant upon the brain for their existence - within the cells are stored the memory of an accident or injury or emotional imbalance - just like we can store data on a computer disc.
Although it is of course excellent that you discovered this Colin, this is already very old information, well known to educated therapists around the world. When you know how to make a non-judgemental and sensitive listening contact with the body of another human being, you will also discover that the tissue (even bone tissue) can ‘awaken’ and can start to ‘play’ and be full of joy. The treated area will rejuvenate, energy starts to flow again and it is possible to release (unconscious) patterns of tension in the body. These patterns can indeed be the consequence of an accident, injury, emotional imbalance or stress of illness, disease or psychological factors.
this sounds like an interesting thread - can you expand on this and give some expamples of the idea at work. Do you apply this in your own work and where do you practice?
Holistic practitioners know that the body has an interest in maintaining a free flowing radiant energy in and around tissues, and every cell wants to be part of this healthy current, this flow of energy or ‘pulse’ mentioned earlier by Colin. But if for some reason as stated above (accident etc.), the current is being blocked in an area, the body will react quite intelligent by making the problem, or the blockage if you will, as small as possible. In this way there is an opportunity for the unaffected tissues to stay in touch with the current of the vibration of energy in and around every cell, which is a contraction and expansion of the life force itself.
When allowed, the body can take care of itself, and provided with enough rest, healing can take place. But if the person can not give the body what it needs to recover, the consequence will be that the blocked area becomes compressed, it will be isolated and alienated if you will, excluded from maintenance of the bodily system. The blocked area becomes tensed and the natural processes in every cell is hindered by that tension.
Now, just for one moment, imagine a human being in this position, or imagine yourself to be under pressure, isolated, alienated and excluded from society and from love of other humans. What would really help you? Could it be that we need at least one person, one who is understanding and compassionate enough to see us in this situation without judging and blaming us? Would it be valuable to us if this person brings with him the remembrance of our potential to connect and heal, to realise that we are part of a system?
Well, just like this person, every cell will rejoice, revitalize when the body is approached and touched in a friendly way, sensitised by a heart to heart communication, and be invited to let go of the tension, gradually without hurry, feeling safe and welcome. In my view, this is the genuine task of a holistic therapist who can make sure that such a space is provided. The results can be really amazing, consciously connecting in a vulnerable and direct way so that the tensed areas of the body and the person can surrender, letting go of stress, pain, and disease. For more than 15 years I’m offering this healing place for clients in my bodywork practice, in Marbella Spain, and also in Maastricht and Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
holistic, natural therapies are certainly the way to go and something we've been writing about for nearly 10 years here in southern Spain. If you ever feel like sending me an article i can see if we have space in the magazine or online. Phil
